Professional Philosophy

I am passionate about helping people explore their values and strengths in order to create meaningful change. I believe that therapy should be a relationship in which clients feel safe, accepted, and empowered to grow, and I walk alongside each client in the context of their unique needs and individual abilities. My person-centered approach integrates a variety of evidence-based practices, including mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational enhancement therapy (MET).

My areas of interest include ADHD, autism, mood disorders, schizophrenia, trauma, personality disorders, and chemical dependency. I have experience in a variety of environments, including with adults in residential treatment centers and hospital units, and as an in-home counselor supporting children and their families.

I am currently working as a Master’s Level Clinical Trainee under the supervision of Amy Fordham, M.A., LPCC, in pursuit of becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I work with adults, adolescents, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Academic Training

M.A. in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, with an 880-hour practicum experience at Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge in Rochester, MN.

Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Counseling from Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, MN.

B.A.s in English Studies and German from the University of Portland in Portland, OR.
